Micros Corporate Headquarters located in Columbia, Maryland serves as a hub for a major international software company in the hospitality and retail industries. The development is meant to be a recognizable symbol for the Micros Corporation as well as fulfill the functional needs that a headquarters demands. Visitors and employees are greeted by a gracious two story atrium and lobby. The lobby features expansive use of plaster walls, wood and interior glazing. From this point they can walk along an arcaded colonnade to a bank of elevators to one of the two main wings of the structure. The 265,000 square foot program contains two office wings featuring state of the art raised floor systems, cafeteria and common gathering space for employees, daylighting strategies, and a communicating stair. The five story steel structure is clad in metal panel and precast. The exterior detailing embodies the idea of a highly efficient corporation through its minimal use of ornament and efficient use of surfaces and connections. The delivery process for this project was fast track with GMP. This project was executed with Ai Architecture and Engineering.
