This small private condominium consists of four dwelling units located at the termini of Second Street and B Street. The most challenging aspect of this project was to design four relatively modern units on a triangular lot of approximately 10,000 sf. Three of the four dwellings are approximately 3,000 sf and the corner unit is 2,000 sf and each dwelling has two parking garage spaces. A sense of small community is reinforced by introducing a common area at the southwest corner of the site.
The parcel map application and design were approved by the Planning Commissioners in 2005. The majority of materials/finishes of the building facade consist of recycled wood panels, cement plaster, and aluminum window systems. Rapidly renewable materials such as bamboo floor is selected as flooring materials for all units. Other sustainable design strategies include wastewater recycling, rainwater harvesting, and arrays of photovoltiac on the roof. This project anticipates a LEED Gold certified building rating.
